David says: The main subject for my photography has almost always been people. My ongoing "Mona Lisa Men" series was begun at university and, as the name suggests, is a series of Renaissance-inspired male portraits which digitally combine studio-taken portraits with backgrounds which may (or may not) be based on something I know about the sitter. I leave the viewer to attempt to decipher the visual codes in the photographs.

For me, 5 Go Shooting is an excellent opportunity to experiment with different photographic genres. Here I can indulge my interest in landscapes, historical processes, abstracts etc. Of course, it also means working with 4 very gifted local photographers who also happen to be good friends of mine.

David Rann is based in Dudley, West Midlands and has a BA Hons First Class in Photography from the University of Wolverhampton, where he is now studying part-time for an MA Fine Art.
